Abuse of opioids, also known as painkillers, is the fastest-growing drug problem in America. “We need to turn the tables on this epidemic so that the next generation has a chance,” said Colleen Babcock, coordinator of the Alden Substance Abuse Coalition and the Parent and Family Support Coordinator at Horizon Health Services where her son, Christopher, 25, continues his treatment and recovery. Christopher’s journey since a high school junior with opioid addiction speaks to both the lethality of today’s opioids and the stubbornness of addiction.
