At the March 21st Alden Town Board meeting, Councilwoman Pautler and Supervisor Savage welcomed Councilman Witt back from his winter migration, and discussed harbingers of spring including tree plantings and highway repair projects.

Supervisor Savage announced the Town was notified that it would be receiving an Urban Forestry grant that would be used to purchase trees to be planted in the Robert O. Smith Park.

Highway Superintendent Gary Wagner reported that the NY State Department of Transportation plans no detour during this year’s repaving of Broadway under the railroad viaduct.

Planning Board member Duane Conners reported to the Town Board that they’ve heard of Equate sludge potentially being transported from Marilla through Alden into Darien, and they are monitoring the situation for possible action. Mr. Conners also reported that the Planning Board is continuing to work through review of the Sled Shop site documents.
