Memorial Day Ceremonies

**The Alden Memorial Post 7967 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, will host the annual Memorial Day ceremony in the village of Alden on Monday, May 25, 2015.

The Memorial ceremony will be held at 2 pm at the Veterans Memorial in front of the Community Center.

**The Town Line Volunteer Fire Department will have their Annual “Community Memorial Day Service” on Monday, May 25, 2015. This service has been held for 58 years and honors all those people from the community who have served their country and community and have died in he past year. They will hold a short parade to the Town Line Lutheran Church have a short service there and return to the Fire Hall for the balance of the service. The Alden High School Band will provide the music for the entire service.

Any young people’s group that would be interested to be a part of this parade could contact Robert Mueller at 683-8398. In this way we can arrange for your group to be apart of the parade.

The entire community is invited to the “Community” Service. They will line up for the parade at 9:15 am. The service will be held rain or shine, with a service in the Fire Hall in case of rain.

**Bennington Memorial Day Observance

A Memorial Day Observance will take place on Monday, May 25th at 11 am. There will be a parade from Pine Tree Park, Lapp Rd., to the Cowlesville Cemetery. All area veterans are invited to join the parade.

There will be an open House at the Historical Society Museum (211 Clinton St.) beginning at noon.

**A Memorial Day Mass at 9 am Monday, May 25, in the Church of the Annunciation in Elma will be followed by services at Annunciation Cemetery, which dates back to 1906.

The Church of the Annunciation is located at 7580 Clinton St. The 100-plus-year-old cemetery is located on the opposite side of Clinton Street, behind the parish offices.

The public is invited to attend the Memorial Day Mass, to be followed by a procession to the cemetery for a special blessing by Father Eugene Ulrich, pastor of Annunciation. A light breakfast in Annunciation’s Selbert Hall, hosted by Barb Windnagle, will conclude the remembrance.

**Marilla will be celebrating Memorial Day on Saturday, May 30th. A parade will begin at 11 am on Two Rod Road.

Flag Raising will take place in the Marilla cemetery and Maplewood Cemetery.
