Fire Company Budget and Salary Increases Discussed at Marilla Meeting

At a recent town board meeting on November 6 the Marilla Town Board voted to approve the Marilla Fire Company contract which will be shored up by money from the general fund in an effort to keep the fire tax rate down to $1.86 per thousand.
Pay Raises
The next item on the agenda was the 2015 budget which included a pay raise for all employees of 3%. Some residents objected to the raises claiming the board is not reflecting what the private sector is getting. Resident Victor Ball, 731 Jamison Rd. recommended the Board “take leadership, reduce government costs and take the pay cut recommended by the supervisor”
