Former ACS physical education teacher, athletic director and coach Harrison “Harry” Hill died on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the age of 79 in South Carolina.
The Alden High School graduate and physical education teacher coached the Bulldog’s football and wrestling teams for many years. He was inducted into the ACS Athletic Wall of Fame in 2002.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He had previously been a member of Alden Presbyterian Church and was currently a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Surfside Beach.
He was born April 16, 1938 in Buffalo to the late Clarence H. Hill and the late Beatrice Ann Wolf Hill. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Marie Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Hill of Murrells Inlet. In Harry’s Honor, a scholarship fund has been set up to assist Alden Graduates with tuition expenses. The family has expressed that, in lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Harry Hill Memorial Scholarship Fund. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday February 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2061 Glenns Bay Rd, Surfside Beach, SC 29575.
