Items that may impact your assessment are location, style, size (heated living area by outside measurement), age, condition, lot size (acreage/village lot), number of bedrooms, and number of bathrooms. Other items include garage, type of basement (full, half, crawl), in ground pools, and outside buildings (not appraised for purchase price rather they are appraised for what they add to the property value).

Assessments will become final in July 1, 2015. If you are not in agreement with your property assessment(s) there is a process in place to allow you to have the assessment reviewed.

To see your property report visit www.alden.erie.gov.  Click on the yellow box on the top right side of the page. Then click on public search. Fill in your address and you will get a full report on your property. On the left side there will be several options for more information on the property.  This will show you if the information on record is correct.

Review applications are available at the Ewell Free Library or you may print one out from the Town’s website (www.alden.erie.gov).  There are separate forms for residents, businesses, and vacant land owners. Once completed, the form should be mailed to the Town of Alden Assessor, 3311 Wende Road, Alden NY 14004, before March 31, 2015.  You should include with your form any evidence to support your belief that the assessment is incorrect (property survey, photos, property and building inventory inaccuracies, comparable properties, errors on the property if found on the Town’s website, etc.).

You will be informed of any findings or changes by letter. If you are still not satisfied you may contact the Assessor’s office for details regarding the formal grievance day, which will be held on June 2, 2015.

If you have any questions or need assistance viewing your property information call the Assessor’s Office at 937-6969.

If you want a face to face review you may set up an appointment by calling 1-866-910-1776  or schedule online at http://appointments.garappraisal.com by March 13th.

The appointments will last about 10 minutes and a decision is not made at that time. It is an opportunity to request that the assessor take a second look at your property.
