The Bruce E. Sitzman Memorial Park, located on Kellogg St., was dedicated on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Bruce was employed by the Village of Alden, serving as Superintendent of Public Works for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2002. After retiring he was a Village Trustee until he passed away August 21, 2013.
This location was originally the first fire hall with a new standpipe, as shown on the picture on the sign which is from 1899. The Village board meetings were held here in the late 1890’s-early 1900’s. It remained the Alden Hook & Ladder Fire Department from 1899-1961. It later became the Department of Public Works building from 1961-1974.
